How To: Tousled, Beach Hair

This is a simple and care-free hair style, that still leaves you looking super fab and super sexy.
Perfect if you have a limited time to get glamorous in the morning, or before a special night out.

Note- This style will be harder to achieve if your hair is all one length and you have no layers in it. Having all that bulk at the end of your hair weighs it down and will just pull out the style naturally.

Step 1.
Start with towel dried hair. NOT soaking wet hair. The best is to leave your hair up in the towel while you get dressed, do your makeup or have breakfast in the morning.

Step 2.
Apply a quarter size amount of a styling cream (Bumble and Bumble Crème, L’oreal Pearl Whip Pearl Whip, OR KMS Silk Sheen Silk Sheen Crème are great options) scrunching the product in, mid shaft to ends. Work in small sections to get the most even coverage. You can twist some sections for more texture. Adding a light spray of sea salt spray (Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, OR KMS Sea Salt Spray Sea Salt Spray are great products)  all over will help to also add more texture in the hair for that true beachy look.

Step 3.
For added volume, use your blow dryer and lightly dry your hair, while scrunching your ends. Flip your head and dry your hair for added volume at your root.

Step 4.
To finish, use an anti frizz hair spray to hold your style for the day.

Your products are very important in achieving this look. Salon quality PROFESSIONAL products will truly help you achieve the perfect beach look.

I always say, you can buy cheap hair products from the drugstore, and yes it might do the trick for a little while, but the professional quality products will really deliver. And you will have more staying power! Its like your car. You can drive a Honda. Great car, it will get you from point A to B no problem. But wouldn't you rather drive an Audi or BMW with all the bells and whistles?

Think about it with your hair and makeup products. Do you want a Honda on your head or a BMW? ;)

You can sleep with this look, and the following day touch up your waves with a curl stick for a more defined look!

(Another easy way to achieve this look: Shower before before bed, very loosely braid towel dried hair, apply some of the styling cream in your hair to keep your hair from frizzing over night. When you take the braids out in the morning, lightly spray some sea salt spray into your hair just a light mist and scrunch your ends)

Feel free to email me your pics if you try this look!!! I would love to share with my readers! :)

Fall + Winter Skin Care Tips

The days have gotten shorter, the leaves are changing colours, the air is cooler. Yep fall is here, and winter is around the corner. Your body and skin are in for a change! The cold weather can really make a difference in the appearance of your skin and hair and here are some ways to help you prepare!

It starts from within...

Even your diet should change slightly for the fall and winter. Eating foods like flax seed, walnuts and salmon contain Omega 3s. Omega 3s are “good fats”. Omega 3 keeps your skin hydrated. Great for fighting dry skin and dandruff which also can surface in the colder months. You can also try supplements of at least 1000mg of Omega3 per day.
Foods like blueberries, spinach and other leafy greens, as well as green tea are great for skin also! They contain antioxidants that fight free radicals and protect the skin from UV damage. Eating lots of fruit and drinking lots of water is also great to help keep your body and skin hydrated.

Moisturize the air...

When the temperature drops outside, typically we crank the heat inside. This can really dry out the air at home and at work. Help keep your skin hydrated by humidifying the air around you. Sleep with a humidifier in your bedroom for overnight hydration.

Halt the Hot hot showers...

Hot Hot water can dry out your skin, So keep the hot, lengthy, steamy showers to a minimum. Blot dry when you get out of the shower or bath so you aren’t 100% dry and moisturize right away so that the humectants in your moisturizer can draw water that’s on the skin’s surface into the lower layers.
Avoid bath washes and soaps that can dry out your skin. Swap your bubble bath with a few drops of lavender or almond oil or oatmeal.

For your face: Try and avoid using alcohol based toners and astringents, which can strip your skin of vital oils. Switch your cleansers to milk cleansers or gentle foaming cleansers, and skip the clay masks, which tends to dry moisture out of your skin and opt for the deep hydrating masks.
*Make sure you are still applying your sunscreen to protect your skin! Face, neck and hands, when going outside.

Prevent Sandpaper lips...

Gritty, chapped and dry lips are no fun. Be sure to use a moisturizing lipstick or lip balm during the cooler months, especially when you go to bed.
To remove unwanted dry skin off your lips you can exfoliate them once a week. I like to use a homemade scrub. Brown sugar and honey! J

Keep that mane shiny and soft…

Your skin can dry out during the winter, so can your hair. Only wash your hair 2-3 times per week. Any more and you are stripping your hair of its natural oils. To help those in between days, use a dry shampoo spray. Also switch to a deep conditioning treatment to use at home twice a week. And if you can pop in to your local salon for a treatment and blow dry once a month. Your locks will love you ;)

One of my most favourite things to do. Drool over the hottest red carpet looks for major Hollywood events. We are all guilty of it! I just get wrapped up in the glam and glitz of the red carpet.

Here are my top 5 (plus snuck one more in, I couldn't narrow it down)
So my top 5 and 1 extra equals 6 from last night's 2012 Emmy Awards! ;)

While Angelina tried to pull off the sexy thigh high slit at the Oscars and failed. Heidi Klum gracefully executed it at last nights Emmy's and in my eyes gets a 10/10. She was a breath of fresh air with this gorgeous sea foam gown by Alexandre Vauthier. With some serious glamorous retro waves, and clean and fresh makeup, ( I love her bronzed cheeks and nude lip) She totally rocked the red carpet last night.

Nail Bling Experiment

Well, I have Sinatra playing, a glass of wine in hand and I'm admiring my handiwork....

Today I decided to experiment with some nail bling!

I have seen these sticker nail art things all over the place and have been pretty skeptical about them. They seemed to be cheesy or tacky. And like they wouldn't last!

Well Im putting them to the test!

I used Dashing Diva Design FX Bling Stickers. - They have a wide assortment of designs. A pack is about $12.50 for a pack of 36 appliques. Today I only wanted to use a sticker on my "bling" finger better known as a "ring finger" ;)

My nail polish base is China Glaze - 256 Evening Seduction. So very fall :)

Now keep in mind I am not an esthetician, but I'm pretty impressed with my lil' manicure. And the nail bling isn't so bad either! What do you think?

A new journey

Well, I get asked often on my opinion on almost anything beauty. Makeup, hair products, trends, skin care...you name it. I thought it would be best to get started on  blog. Separate from Krystieann.com and the KA Beauty Group. A blog where I can just. talk. beauty. And so, Wink Beauty Blog begins.

Why wink? Well when brainstorming the first thing that came into my mind when thinking beauty was a bombshell. Im talking a fierce, confident woman. Inner and outer beauty just rockin'. Think.... Beyonce. And then my crazy mind spiraled into a wink. A flirtatious gesture, only a confident, beautiful person would give. Yes sometimes, it can be cheesy. But think about it. Ladies if a gorgeous man or guys, if a sexy woman winked at you, you would probably melt. I would. lol Not gonna lie.
And there came Wink Beauty Blog :)

I am super excited to start this journey. And appreciate the patience and support from my fans and followers.
Looking forward to sharing some juicy beauty info with you!
